THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
The Indonesian Rainforest Foundation (IRF) and Nature Life International (NLI), in partnership with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), will host the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Rainforest Farming and Community-based Livelihood Programs at Universitas Sebelas Maret located in Surakarta (Solo) in Central Java, near the World Heritage listed Borobudur Temple. The theme of the Conference focuses on “Climate Change Mitigation through Sustainable Rainforest Farming and Community Based Livelihoods Initiatives”.
This International conference is built upon and expanded based on the progress achieved in the 1stconference in Leyte, the Philippines in 2013. It will discuss the studies conducted in various parts of the world and learn new strategies and best practices of each case in climate change mitigation experiences in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Germany.
The conference will discuss issues related to climate change mitigation strategies associated with rainforest protection and community-based governance, organic farming, organic certification paying attention to different international standards in terms of environment and social compliances, sustainable livelihoods, product traceability, international reforestation co- operation opportunities with certified sustainable products as well as the latest development in rainforestation farming and sustainable livelihood programs. There will be the launch of LACON organic certification program in Indonesia and the launch of the Bahasa Indonesia version of the latest publication by Professor Dr. F. Göltenboth, and Dr. hc (VSU,Philippines) Claus-Peter Hutter, entitled “A farmer ́s guide to sustainable organic farming and agro-forest biodiversity management”
We invite submission of scientific papers either the results of research or reviews related the field of “Sustainable of agriculture and rainforest farming and community based livelihood” and conference participants. The scientific paper should be written in English. Prospective authors are required to submit abstract for preliminary selection. The abstract consisting of no more than 300 words in single line spacing, font type Times New Roman 12 pt with margins 3 cm on all sides of A4 paper size. Title of the paper, name of the authors, institusional affiliations, and corresponding author contact (email and phone number) should be written in boldface and centred. At the end of the abstract, list 3-5 key words that best describe the nature of the research. Only those whose abstracts are accepted are required to submit full papers.
